Bodie is a unique place.  People moved out with no buyer for their property because the mine ranout and was located in a very inhospitable location. Pianos, kitchens, sawmills, pool tables, sleds, wagons, a truck, tombstones, pieces of a town, and a large empty mine remain.  Located North of Mono lake and South of Carson City Nevada, this place is now a protected California State Park.

This color anaglyph image is best viewed using red/cyan glasses.  This subject works well in this format because it is free of large areas of solid reds or blues.  Most of the golden and natural tones are nearly equal balanced in intensity - there is a low color contrast and it is mostly browns and golds.   The image also has this counter that goes back like a railroad track shrinking is size along the length of the room.  The boxes, baskets, and barrels create a spatial framework that defines the room as a volume of space by filling that space.  The details of  the items on the counter and the steel trap add texture to the overall image.   Click on the image to see these details.

Because this is an anaglyph image ghosting is still an issue.  This has been minimized by pushing the overlap point of the two images all the way out to the barrel in the isle.  This pushes the items in front of that point to in front of the screen on which you are viewing this image.  Some people would call this a window violation and the don't like to see objects extend in front of the window.

Ghosting is a significant issue in anaglyph and an example of it in this image is the white wall that the telephone is mounted on.  When observed through the red filter the green ghost falls on the dark background.  Since the window is pushed back fifteen feet into the image there is little noticable ghosting in the primary subject plane, creating an image of greater overall sharpness.
